Web Site Tips for Webmasters
Music/Audio
Audio clips add another dimension to your web pages. They can be
useful or they can just add a nice touch. Here are some tips to remember when putting
sound on your site:
- Give visitors an option--if you add music to your page, allow guests to your site the option of
either turning it down or turning it off. They may be listening to something else while browsing,
and find it annoying that your music interferes with their listening. If they do turn it off,
make sure it stays off when they visit other pages on your site.
- Use quality recordings--the quality of any recording is going to diminish somewhat when played
over the internet. Insure the audio is clear and not too loud or soft. Not having sound is better
than a bad sound coming out of your PC.
- Know how to stream--streaming was developed so people didn't have to wait to listen to a recording.
If you have a 4 MB sermon, people on a slow connection don't want to wait up to 15 minutes before
listening to it. If you have any questions on setting up streaming audio on my server, contact me.
